  • Care instructions

We take great care to design and source high quality furniture, there are a few things for you to consider to keep it looking its best.

    Here are our top tips:

    1. Be aware of the environment. Sunlight, heat sources, pets, humidity, etc. can all affect the performance and longevity of furniture. Selecting the right materials for the right setting will ensure yours is the right fit.
    2. Keep it clean.  Light, regular cleaning will increase the lifespan of your furniture.
    3. Protect your floor and protect your furniture with floor protectors, coasters, stain protection etc.  Heat and moisture are generally not furniture’s best friend so keep them separate where possible or ensure furniture is protected.
    4. Stay centred.  Use the centre of the seat rather than the arms or back of sofas, for example, and don’t lean or rock on chairs and stools.

Our team will always be happy to answer any questions you may have about a particular item.

    DELIVERY & ASSEMBLY

When opening the packaging please take extreme care for personal and product safety. We recommend against the use of blades.

Having unpacked your furniture, check that it is complete and all parts are present. Please note, the feet for certain products may be found in the zip pocket underneath the suite. Ensure all fittings have been removed before disposing of packaging. Ensure children are supervised during unpacking and assembly of furniture and kept away from all hazards.

For ‘self-assembly’ furniture, read the assembly instructions before starting. Identify the parts of your furniture and follow the assembly sequence. Avoid use of force when assembling parts and be careful not to over tighten fittings during assembly. To avoid damage during assembly, use the appropriate tools and work on a surface covered by a protective layer.

    Installing your furniture

If assembling a product on its back or side, take care when turning the product over. Do not put excessive pressure on legs/base when turning as this may damage the structure of the product.

Once assembled, position the furniture, ensuring it is level so that doors and drawers open and close properly. Adjust hinges and runners once the item is in its final position and levelled. If stated in the assembly instructions, furniture must be fixed to the wall.

When positioning furniture items please do not drag them.  Items should be lifted from the bottom where possible. In rooms with delicate floors, consider additional protection under your furniture e.g. felt pads or glides.

Shelves or drawer boxes should not be overloaded beyond capacity. If you need to move your furniture, you need to empty it first. This will make handling easier and reduce the risk of injury or damage.

Always use the handles provided to open and close drawers/doors. It is recommended that all self-assembled products should be periodically checked to ensure that all the fittings are secure.

Assembly and installation must be done in accordance with instructions. Failure to follow assembly instructions may result in poor performance of your product and/or void your warranty. If instructions are not followed, we decline any liability in the event of damage caused to people or property because of incorrect installation.

    WOOD VENEER CARE & MAINTENANCE

Characteristics of wood:  Although the surface you are looking at is flat, it is made from a circular tree trunk. Consequently, the grain will change along and across the boards used – and will be different to the board beside it.  This will show tonal variation which will include lines, flecks, knots and swirls. The fact the grain is changing direction also means that it will look different when viewed from different directions.

This variation in grain will also effect the way the timber responds. This movement will occur more in very humid or dry conditions. To keep the moisture level stable, avoid direct exposure to heat, air-conditioning units or direct sun.

Care:  Regular maintenance involves no more than removing dust with a soft and dry cloth or duster. A slightly damp cloth can also be used then dry with a dry cloth. Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight and use suitable protection under kitchen and glassware e.g. coasters, mats and serving boards.

Spills and Marks:  Clean up spills immediately as liquid left sitting for a long period may stain or damage the product. This is likely to show in the form of white stains or bubbles and may require professional services to resurface.

To clean, use a duster or damp cloth and wipe dry. Never use all-purpose chemical or cleaning sprays on your wooden furniture. You should not use soap and water on a regular basis as it can stain and damage the wood.

For hard stains, use diluted detergent and water sparingly, wipe away the detergent with a damp cloth then dry. Take care not to over rub as this could create a shiny patch.

Temperature:  It is recommended to keep temperature changes within reasonable limits when the product is next to windows or in an air conditioned or heated environment.  The expansion or contraction of materials due to extreme temperature changes can cause damage.

Never place hot items directly onto a table or surface without using a heat resistant mat. This could leave a ring mark ingrained into the wood or lacquer. Very hot items such as a saucepan or baking dish should not be placed on a table top unless you are confident there will not be heat transfer. Avoid placement of heated electrical equipment, cigarettes, candles etc. on furniture tops and surfaces.
